The compass doesn’t care what you intended. It only tells you where you’re headed. There have been times in my life when I spent entirely too much energy defending a course that wasn’t working. Not because it was right. Not because it was wise. Simply because I had already invested so much in it. Pride is an expensive navigator. Sometimes the bravest thing a man can do is look at the chart, look at the horizon, and say: “Well… this isn’t taking me where I thought it would.” There is no shame in changing course. There is only danger in refusing to. A small correction made today can save a great deal of trouble tomorrow.
