Good evening.
I didn’t accomplish very much today.
And I’m beginning to think I had a rather good day.
I puttered around the boat a little. Read a few pages. Had something simple for lunch. Sat outside longer than I intended and watched absolutely nothing happen in the harbor.
At some point I realized I wasn’t waiting for anything.
I wasn’t waiting for the weather to improve.
I wasn’t waiting for someone to call.
I wasn’t waiting until I’d finished something before allowing myself to enjoy the evening.
I was simply content to be where I was.
It took me a surprising number of years to learn that contentment isn’t the reward we get after everything is done.
Sometimes it’s what becomes possible when we finally decide that, for today, enough has been done.
The light is fading now.
I think I’ll sit here a little longer. 💛
