Went to Sunset Beach last night, once a month the town has a band… they were good, but being out in the audience, I didn’t find myself missing it. At all. Being a drummer was once how I defined myself. It was also a respectable second income, not only from the bands I was in, but also the numerous bands I subbed for over the years. More than 5 years later, after having a brain bleed on stage that left me in the hospital for a few months, and took my drum “career”with it, I’m still trying to figure out just who I am without it.
Don’t get me wrong, there is still much to be grateful for (hell, I’m still here telling the tale!), but is there ANYONE else out there wondering every once in awhile, is this really all there is?
