We say it almost proudly.
Calendars full.
Lists long.
Messages waiting.
Something always needing to be done.
And when a little empty space appears, we have become remarkably good at finding something to pour into it.
Maybe that’s another vessel worth examining.
Because a full day and a meaningful day aren’t necessarily the same thing.
Sometimes the most valuable hour is the one in which absolutely nothing gets accomplished.
A conversation that runs longer than expected.
Watching the sun disappear.
Sitting quietly with someone you love.
Listening to the rain.
Or simply doing nothing for a while without feeling obligated to justify it.
We spent some of our time today getting things done.
Good.
But before we pour anything else into what’s left of this Sunday…
Maybe we can leave a little room empty.
Enough doesn’t always mean the vessel is full.
Sometimes it means we finally stopped filling it.
