Good Wednesday morning, my friends. Not everything filling our vessel is something we can put our hands on. We carry expectations. Old mistakes. Other people’s opinions. Promises we made to versions of ourselves who no longer exist. Ideas about who we are supposed to be. And sometimes we carry them for so long that we forget we have the option of setting them down. That’s an interesting thing about enough. We’ve spent a lot of time this week asking whether we have enough. Maybe occasionally we should ask: What have I had enough of? Enough worrying about something I cannot change. Enough trying to satisfy someone else’s expectations. Enough replaying an old mistake. Enough proving something that no longer needs proving. Enough carrying cargo that belongs to a voyage I’ve already completed. A sailor occasionally has to clean out a locker. Turns out, so do the rest of us. You don’t have to throw everything overboard. Just take a look at what you’re carrying. Some of it may have already served its purpose. And maybe this morning is a good time to set it down.
