Captain Michael: Good evening, my friends.
We spend a lot of time trying to fill empty spaces.
An empty shelf gets something put on it.
Good evening, my friends.
We spend a lot of time trying to fill empty spaces.
An empty shelf gets something put on it.
An open evening gets another commitment.
A quiet moment gets a phone pulled out.
An uncomfortable silence gets filled with words.
An empty spot in our lives can make us surprisingly uneasy.
Maybe because we’ve been taught to see empty as lacking.
But an empty vessel isn’t necessarily missing something.
Sometimes it’s ready.
Ready to receive something new.
Ready to be useful in a different way.
Ready to hold something we haven’t even encountered yet.
There’s a reason we don’t pack every locker aboard a boat completely full.
Sooner or later, something unexpected needs a place to go.
Maybe life works that way too.
This morning we talked about setting down some of the things we’ve carried too long.
Tonight, don’t be in such a hurry to fill the space they leave behind.
Let it stay empty for a while.
Sit with it.
Enjoy the room.
You don’t have to know yet what belongs there next.
Sometimes enough includes a little empty space.
Fair winds and a peaceful evening, my friends. 🌙⚓
