Good Thursday morning, my friends.
An empty vessel has an interesting advantage.
You get to choose what goes into it next.
Yesterday we talked about setting things down and leaving a little empty space behind.
That’s harder than it sounds.
Because life is always offering us something else to put there.
Another obligation.
Another possession.
Another opinion to worry about.
Another distraction.
Another thing someone assures us we absolutely need.
And if we’re not paying attention, that nice bit of room we created gets filled right back up.
Maybe that’s where enough becomes something more than contentment.
Maybe it becomes a filter.
Does this deserve some of my time?
Does this deserve my attention?
Does this deserve space in my home?
Does this deserve space in my head?
Does this deserve a place in my life?
Not everything that fits belongs aboard.
And perhaps that’s one of the quiet freedoms that comes with knowing what enough looks like.
We don’t have to say yes simply because there’s room.
Sometimes an empty space is worth protecting.
Fair winds, my friends. ☕⚓
