I normally try to get the evening thought out a little earlier.
But here we are.
And oddly enough, that seems appropriate for a week spent talking about Now.
We put an awful lot of lines on time.
Early.
Late.
On schedule.
Behind schedule.
Too soon.
Too late.
And those lines are useful. Ships have sailing times. Doctors have appointments. Dinner eventually needs to come out of the oven.

But somewhere along the way, we can start treating those lines as though life itself obeys them.
By this age, I should have accomplished this.
By now, I should have figured that out.
I should have started sooner.
I should be further along.
Maybe.
Or maybe you’re simply standing where all of your choices, mistakes, victories, accidents, loves, losses, and course corrections have brought you.
Here.
And here is the only place from which another step can be taken.
Ram Dass didn’t say:
Be Here Earlier.
He said:
Be Here Now.
There are things we wish we’d done sooner.
There are roads we probably should have taken years ago.
But yesterday isn’t accepting reservations.
The only question that matters is what we do from here.
So yes, tonight’s post is late.
But the moment it arrived in?
Right on time.
