Captain Michael: Good morning.
Some of the people who taught me the most never sat me down to teach me anything.
I just watched them.
Good morning.
Some of the people who taught me the most never sat me down to teach me anything.
I just watched them.
I watched how they treated the person who couldn’t do anything for them.
How they handled bad news.
Whether they kept their word when keeping it became inconvenient.
How they behaved when the boss wasn’t around.
What they did when they screwed up.
And maybe most importantly, how they carried themselves when life handed them something they couldn’t fix.
Funny thing is, I don’t remember many of the speeches I’ve heard about leadership, character, or integrity.
But I remember people who lived those things.
And I remember a few who didn’t.
Both taught me something.
We spend a lot of time worrying about what we’re going to say.
Maybe we ought to spend a little more time thinking about what somebody watching us is going to remember.
Because long after they’ve forgotten our advice, they may still remember our example.
Some lessons are never spoken.
Have a good Tuesday, my friends.
And remember—somebody may be learning from you today.
