THE INNER WEATHER Paying attention is not only about watching the world around us. Sometimes the most important weather is moving within. Irritation appears before the harsh reply. Defensiveness rises before the excuse. Weariness settles in before we withdraw from the people around us. Fear sometimes puts on anger because anger feels stronger. If we fail to notice these things, they can take the helm before we realize we have surrendered it. Then we say something we cannot retrieve, make a decision we do not truly believe in, or treat another person as though they caused a storm that began inside us. Paying attention does not mean suppressing what we feel. Feelings carry information. They may tell us that a boundary has been crossed, that we need rest, that something matters, or that an old wound has been disturbed. But information is not instruction. A feeling deserves to be noticed. It does not automatically deserve command. The moment we can say, I am angry, rather than simply becoming anger, a little space opens between what we feel and what we do. That space is where choice returns. Notice the inner weather. Then decide who you will be within it. #PayAttention #ThursdayMorning #WellLivedLife #CrypTok
