We were sitting with old friends yesterday, talking about people we’ve known along the way.
Some are good human beings who occasionally act like dicks.
That’s probably most of us.
We get tired. We lose our patience. We say the wrong thing. We become selfish, petty, jealous, or unnecessarily cruel.
Those moments are part of being human.
But then there are people who make a home there.
It isn’t one ugly moment. It’s the way they move through the world. The excuses come easily. The apologies never do. Eventually, repeated behavior stops being a mistake and starts revealing character.
That’s the distinction worth examining.
Being human doesn’t mean being perfect.
It means recognizing when we’ve failed. Owning the harm without hiding behind an excuse. Making things right when we can. Then doing the work required not to keep becoming the same ugly version of ourselves.
A bad moment doesn’t have to define us.
But what we repeatedly choose will.
This week, we’re going to talk about what it takes to simply be a decent human being—grace, accountability, kindness, boundaries, forgiveness, and the courage to grow.
Because being human explains why we sometimes fail.
It does not excuse our refusal to grow.
Just Be Human.
