One of the easiest things to do in life… is drift.
Not because we’re weak.
Not because we’re bad people.
Mostly because distraction is constant.
The sea teaches that losing direction rarely happens all at once.
Usually it begins with tiny deviations barely noticed in the moment.
A neglected conversation.
A compromised principle.
A postponed dream.
A habit repeated too many times.
And over enough distance…
small shifts become entirely different destinations.
That’s why captains regularly check their heading.
Not out of fear…
but out of intention.
Maybe that’s a good practice for all of us.
To pause once in a while and honestly ask:
“Am I still headed where I truly want to go?”
