Some of my favorite childhood memories were not exciting at all.
Just sitting safely on the porch while late afternoon thunderstorms rolled across the farm.
Lightning flashing beyond the hardwoods.
Thunder shaking the windows.
Heavy rain drumming on the tin roof.
There was something comforting about witnessing nature’s power from the safety of home.
The storms felt wild…
but the porch felt steady.
Looking back now, I think those evenings taught me something important:
peace does not come from controlling the storm.
Peace comes from learning where your shelter is.
Maybe that is true in life too.
Not every storm can be stopped.
Not every season can be avoided.
But there is strength in stillness.
There is wisdom in simply sitting quietly and listening to the rain.
