Most sailors spend a lot of time thinking about where they’re going. The next anchorage. The next harbor. The next horizon. There’s nothing wrong with that. But eventually I learned something important: The destination matters. The sailor arriving there matters more. A man can reach every goal he set for himself and still not become the human being he hoped to be. He can make money and lose peace. Build success and lose character. Win arguments and lose friends. Achievement and fulfillment are not always the same voyage. That is why the choices we make matter so much. Because long before we arrive anywhere, those choices are quietly shaping the person who will step ashore when we get there. The habits we practice. The promises we keep. The responsibilities we accept. The kindness we offer. The discipline we build. These things travel with us. This morning, don’t just ask yourself where you’re headed. Ask yourself who is arriving. The answer may be the most important destination of all. Fair winds, my friends. — Captain Michael #LifeWellLived #Choice #Character #CourseCorrections #Stoicism #MorningReflection #CaptainMichael #LifeJourney
