NASA ACCIDENTALLY LAUNCHED A FROG WITH A ROCKET 😂 A frog was photographed flying into the air during a NASA rocket launch in 2013. The incredible image captured the small amphibian mid-flight, arms and legs spread wide, surrounded by debris from the wetlands. The photo was taken on September 6, 2013, during the launch of NASA's Lunar Atmosphere and Dust Environment Explorer spacecraft at the Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia. A still camera on a sound trigger captured the frog in a single frame as the Minotaur V rocket lifted off. The frog was probably enjoying a water pool that NASA scientists had put on the launchpad to protect the pad from damage and for noise suppression. As the rocket lifted off, the amphibian was photographed shooting upward in the steam cloud created by the launch. Photographer Chris Perry, who set up the camera, told media that the frog was probably about 50 feet from the camera's location, while the rocket was at a much greater distance. He estimated the frog was about 150 feet away from the Minotaur rocket. NASA confirmed the photo was legitimate and had not been altered in any way. The photo team verified the frog was real and was captured in a single frame by one of the remote cameras used to photograph the launch. However, the condition of the frog remained uncertain. NASA said the frog has not been seen since. Keith Koehler at the Wallops Flight Facility said hundreds of frogs live in the acres of marshlands surrounding the launch pad. He noted that in his 30 years at Wallops, they had never seen this happen before. The image went viral, receiving more than 15,000 likes on NASA's Instagram account and another 9,000 likes on Facebook. It became one of the most iconic accidental wildlife photos in space launch history. This is not the first animal oddity to be included in a launch. There are several images of birds flying away from space shuttle launches. During the STS-119 shuttle launch in 2009, a bat was discovered napping on the shuttle's fuel tank just before blastoff and did not survive the launch. Wrong place, wrong time doesn't even begin to cover it. #NASA #Space #Viral #RocketLaunch
